Campaign

As part of the SCIPPER Project – an EU-funded research and innovation action – Explicit in September 2020 demonstrated airborne monitoring techniques using light-weight sniffer drones to monitor ship emissions over the Elbe river near Wedel outside Hamburg. Together with partners, the campaign aims to demonstrate and assess various beyond state-of the art techniques for monitoring ship emissions, including fixed stations and airborne sniffers. Focusing on SO2, NOx and particulate components, the data will also be used as empirical import for further advancement of air quality modelling.
