Danish greentech company Explicit ApS closed another record year of growth, following several years of successful global expansion and innovation within the field of emissions monitoring using drones.
Over the course of 2025, the company experienced more than 100% revenue growth, with survey operations expanded to more than 20 countries across five continents – Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia, Australia and North America.
Specialising in sampling emissions data using drone technology, Explicit has fast become a global market leader in providing aerial survey data on real GHG and air quality emissions such as methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrous oxide (N2O), sulphur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Explicit’s growth is fuelled in equal parts by energy operators’ increased demand for high-quality emissions data that allow them to accurately track, quantify and reconcile critical GHG emissions; reliable and easy-to-use measurement technologies; and new regulatory reporting requirements such as the EU Methane Regulation (EU/2024/1787). Additionally, in 2025, the company expanded its work in other sectors, including aerial monitoring of ship emissions.
Reliable scalability
At the core of the company’s success is a strong dedication to customer service and data delivery.
“2025 proved to everyone that Explicit is able to scale globally without compromising the fast turnaround time and very high data quality that we are known for. Our Emissions Lab delivered more than 2,000 emissions reports last year, in most cases within 30 minutes to 24 hours of sampling. Reliable scalability is key as we see more energy operators come under legal requirement to measure and report their emissions or voluntarily sign up to global monitoring programmes like the UN Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0.”

High client retention and satisfaction
With a growing customer base that includes some of the world’s largest energy companies, key authorities and leading researchers, Explicit is committed to maintaining its innovative edge and high level of customer service.
“We keep challenging ourselves every day on how we can deliver better and more efficient solutions for monitoring critical emissions. I am happy to see that our dedication is rewarded with a very high level of client retention, client satisfaction, and more new clients partnering with us every day.”

Strength in diversification
Explicit’s services are not limited to the energy sector. Instead, the company provides emissions monitoring services to a broad range of industry, authority and research clients across many sectors, including energy, maritime, renewables, resource and waste management. This diversification helps spread business risk and provides cross-sector synergies and learnings, which fuel the company’s innovation pipeline.
“We service many clients in many industries. It means we carry learnings with us across sectors to the benefit of our customers. We are also not tied to a single sensor technology but work with a multitude of instruments depending on the application. All of it is tied together in our uniquely versatile digital lab environment that allows us to process data faster and provide greater data depth in support of client reconciliation than anybody else.”
Jon Knudsen, CEO and founder of Explicit
Going forward, Explicit expects to continue its investment in geographical and sectoral expansion as well as continued innovation, as the company seeks to leverage its unique market position and strong in-house development capability.
